Juries
Juries are the purest expression of democracy. Juries come together, chosen randomly from among us. They donate their time to decide the most important matters of our personal lives. And then they disappear.
Jurors do not have political action committees or face reelection. They do not need campaign contributions or worry about polls. Jurors are people from all walks of life, who get to decide the impact of the law.
For decades juries have been disparaged. Large companies fill the pockets of legislators with money and fill our news with half truths. Our legislatures have taken power from juries.
The 6th amendment is like the 2nd. Its about self defense and a fair fight.
